Conferencia General was so good! Like what the heck? I'm pretty sure this is the first time I have ever watched ALL of the meetings, and also the first time I have paid attention the whole time as well! Kinda too bad seeing as though I am a missionary, but! It was so good and I swear I was like physically tired from all the Spirit! What is this!? No but I honestly loved all of the talks! And like okay. So they were all talking about getting married and I'm like, "Oh great. I have to wait 2 years before that!" Also I wasnt too keen on getting married right after the mish but I guess now I have to be... Thanks President Monson... :) But seriously. It was a good conference! I like taking notes and just being like edified. My thing is, God really loves us SO much! He has given us a profet and apostles to guide us in this life! Why are we so blessed!?
P.S. We watched conference in like the "Gym"... It is where we have gym and also where we gather for like devotionals and such. There are a ton of HARD chairs that have no legroom and they are not comfy at all. But it wasnt too bad! But really it kinda was, I'm just being positive!

So... TRAVEL PLANS!! We totes got them this week. A piece of paper that says, "Hey. You get to go to San Antonio. Also. You get to change the lives of children of God as you help them understand they can be happy in the Gospel of Jesus Christ!" So I'm excited. We leave Wednesday April 13th. We head out of here at 6 AM! And then our flight leaves at like 10 or something! So get ready to receive a phone call somewhere in that time! I get to call you at the Salt Lake airport, you know! Its gonna be pretty fun! We get into San Antonio at like 1.. something. There I will meet my new companion and START the work! So stoked!

This week has been pretty good. I'm so excited for Sam to get here! This past week I got to Host. So that was fun to introduce new Elders to where they will learn and grow so much! Its fun. I'm assuming we will be hosting again this week so I am going to just walk around and look for the Hunters to pull up and then I am going to tackle Sam to the ground. Hopefully that happens for real though.

I'm kinda scared because this week and a half is going to go by SO SLOW! Ugh. But I am excited non the less. We took this grammer assesment test for our Spanish. Apparently the average is 50%. I got 81%... and the best in our district. Although it is a good/ decent score, I was kinda upset cause I want to do better! But I feel like Heavenly Father has blessed me so much with the language! And with a lot of other things. So I cant complain. Its really my fault for not working harder! I hope I havent let him down!

I love you all sooo much! I hope you have an amazing week and i hope you get to enjoy good weather. I am sick of this crazy weather. Itll be so nice one day and then you wake up with 3 inches of snow on the gruond! WHAT THE! I am excited to get to SA to some nice, warm weather!

LOVE YOU!!

Hola

So apparently the Lord wants me and my companions to be zone leaders. Cause yesterday our branch president asked us to be the next zone leaders! Kinda crazy but I am excited for the opportunity. I hope my companions...and I can shape up to be the examples we need to be.

So this week was okay. Kinda up and down. Some days are fun and good and others can be somewhat hard. Satan doesn't want me here, I'll tell you that! BUT, God really does and He is helping me know that! Time has kinda slowed down. I think since we got over the hump it was like, "Okay, Elders, Let's have a little plateau and have it seem like you are never gonna get outta here!" The days are getting longer which is weird but let's blame that on a little something called Daylight savings time. I hate saving daylight!

One of the Elders in my district had to get surgery on his knee today. I guess the doctors think it's a good idea to give him surgery in the middle of his MTC experience and then have him stay here while he is in pain and dying then after when he just wants to get out to the field, send him home for 2 months. It doesn't make sense. So, he will still be here and just on bed rest and stuff and using crutches for the next like week. And then try to be normal while still healing then when we ship out to the field, he will go home for a couple months and then get sent out to Ohio after that! Kinda sad. Anyway, I am now companions with his companion...If that makes sense. So for the next few days I will have to learn how to teach with a brand new Elder and stuff! It's gonna make things a lot different but I guess the Lord has some plans in store for me if he is making all these companion changes on me! Fortunately, I really like the Elder I will be with for the next few days. And even though I will be his companion, we have to go and check up on Elder Hoole...The one who got surgery. (P.S. He is just going to be staying in the "infirmary" here at the MTC for the next few days. Pretty much just sleeping in a bed in a tiny room.)

Anyway. I love you all so much! I am blessed to have like the greatest family ever! Thanks for everything you do.

<3 Always,
Elder Webb

P.S. Also, keep me up to date on world news/current events! Aka, Japan and stuff like that, I want to know what is happening in the outside world!

Wowzers!

March 7, 2011

So first things first: I have gained 13 pounds.

Hahahahaha. Not really. I'm pretty sure everyone is gaining weight pero I am not. I may have gained like a pound. I'm eating and stuff! Don't you worry, but I just think its funny cause everyone is like, "Ahh, I've gained 10 pounds already!" However I have not because I eat healthy! Thank you for raising me right! :)

Okay now here's to the real deal: In 2 days, I will have been here for a month. Weird? Duh. I feel like I have been here for half my life but at the same time it's gone by pretty fast! It's such a time paradox! I am really glad I will be a month out though!:)

Other than that, really nothing has happened! OH WAIT! I saw Taylor Wasden! I like yelled his name and was like "WHAT THE!?" We hugged! I saw him a few more times and it was cool! I also saw one of my friends, Jeff, from BYU-I. I freaking love that kid! We were talking and he didn't even have his mission call yet but we were like, Oh let's live together after our missions! He's legit. And he is going to Baton Rouge, Lousiana. AND I saw another sister missionary friend that I sat by in Missionary Prep. She saw me and ran up and she kept yelling ELDER! Cause she couldn't remember my last name! And then I was like, "Ahh hey!" Anyway it was cool to see people I know! And I can't wait for Sam to get here!

The companionship is going good...There's like always ups and downs but whatev. Elder Johnes and I are getting closer than Elder Smith and I are...So I feel kinda bad but Elder Smith is just a lot different than we are. BUT! His is a child of God and he is serving a mission so I love him.

Well anyways. I am gonna go now. It's been a month! Not too bad, huh!? Only 23 more to go!:)

So this week was alright. It went by pretty fast so I am glad because the weeks are starting to pick up! I don't even remember all that happened. But! I am learning a lot! And I think I am getting pretty good at Spanish because a Hermana who was here for a lot of weeks taught me...for practice...one of her lessons or whatever. When she was speaking Spanish I understood most of what she said. And when she said english words that she didn't know, I knew them. so it was really cool cause I felt smart.
We had another TRC on Thrusday where we taught people. It was cool again. I feel like I can just get people to feel comfortable and make them feel special and loved. They seem to appreciate what I have to say. So I feel blessed for that gift of people skills.

My companionship is going alright. I think we are all kinda sick of each other but what do you expect?!

Oh! One cool thing that happened this week (that happened once before). So the oldest district headed out to their fields of service today. And in our zone there is a little tradition called "hasta ver". It's where all the guys in our zone get together in someone's room at night and we all sing
"God Be With You Till We Meet Again" and then someone tells the story of when Brigham Young and them shouted "Hoorah for Israel" and the we all scream that 3 times. And then someone prays and its really cool! It's cool because if just makes me think of how these are all my brothers and we are all working together to build God's kingdom, and we just rejoice in the fact that we have had the MTC experience together and wish those who are heading out into the field luck. It's really cool.

Anyway, I'm not too sure what else I can say. I am learning a lot and I'm on an adventure. It keeps hitting me that I'm gonna be doing this for 2 years. Some days are really hard or frustrating and I just want to go home, but I'm not going to come home until my work is done! Heavenly Father has never given up on me, so I'm not gonna give up on Him!

Okay! Keep me in your prayers!
Always,
Elder Webb

Week 2 at the MTC

This week has been somewhat better. I'm getting more adjusted every day. Its weird because I feel like its 2 steps forward and one step back. I'm learning and making friends but then at the same time sometimes I get kinda sad and miss everybody and realize I am living in a Spiritual prison of some kind! Haha it's really not that bad, but only seeing the same brick buildings every day gets a little old! I'm excited to get out into the field! I've only been here 12 days but it feels like I've been here for months!

Uhh... I'm not sure what else to say. We have to teach "investigators" who are really our teachers. That is super stressful because we are a trio. It's hard to share the air and I feel like the other guys are focused on different things than I and they don't really look to what the investigator really needs, they just try to teach a lesson. So whenever we teach, I try to make it a point to ask questions to the person and really see into them to have the spirit help me know what they need to feel, not just to preach to them.

There was this thing on Thursday night called TRC. Its where BYU students come and we have 10 minutes with them to get to know them and teach them a mini lesson just to help strengthen them. It was really cool. I liked getting to know new people. The cool thing was that I prayed a lot before to know how to get into the hearts of those we taught. While we were getting to know this one girl I had the impression she wanted to hear about Charity. So I opened to Moroni 7:48... I'm pretty sure that's the verse. Anyway... We kept talking ya know and then I asked, "Is there anything you feel like you would want to hear about from us that would help strengthen you this week?" And she thought about it and was like ".... maybe Charity?" And I was like, "Perfecto! I have this scripture opened right here!" And I shared it with her and she loved it. I felt so good because the Spirit had used me to testify to her and strengthen her! So cool!

I like dearelder cause you can get letters the same day! Its totally amazing to get mail. (the other day I got 6 letters and I was the only one to get mail and everyone was so jealous!)

Keep me in your prayers 'cause the MTC is kind of a weird place for me! But I am enjoying it and all its glory! I love you. Don't miss me too much. And don't make me miss you too much! haha :)

First Week In the MTC!

Well hello there!

So. I know that I am in the right place. It has been pretty hard adjusting but at the same time its gotten pretty good! When we were driving over here I was so scared! I really wanted to tell dad to turn around and not come cause I was nervous! But meeting Elder Hill, the guy who met us at the car kinda made me feel better! He was so nice and one of our zone leaders so it was cool. Everyone was so nice the first day but... what do you expect, its the first day! Haha but no, everyone is still really nice! My first companion was Elder Mielke (milky). He was really nice and we got along very well... for the time we were together. He got bumped up to intermediate Spanish so he isn’t in our class anymore. So I am in a trio with Elder Smith and Elder Jones. They are pretty cool but it’s kinda hard cause we are all kinda different from each other. But its getting better!
Class is weird. We sit there alone for most of the day but that’s cool cause we should be learning how to study on our own anyway. WE have 2 teachers. Hermana Penaflor and Hermano Burnham. We have only had Hermana Penaflor this week though. I am in a new "pilot" program which is something they are trying out. Its new curriculum and stuff for teaching the missionaries. So we are kinda the guinea pigs but she told us we are the "elect/ chosen" Elders. Its really a blessing because not only do we get to have a say in how the program goes, but, we are in a huge classroom with only 7 elders. We have nice desks and like computer desk chairs that roll and recline. There are classrooms half the size of ours with like 12 missionaries in them. With uncomfortable chairs and desks. So I am EXTREMELY happy about that.
Its cool here because the spirit is really strong. And although I feel like I live my life well and stuff I realize how much I was missing the Spirit, and not like striving to have the Spirit with me. It’s a little bit hard adjusting to all of this. I'm pretty sure they want us to survive on only like 20 seconds of sleep because I'm lucky if I get that. The days are long but also pretty rewarding. I feel like I actually have a purpose finally. Something I never really thought I had before. This week went by pretty slow but that’s okay. Its the first week. Everyone told us that the first few days are the hardest.
We got to go to the temple today and that was fun. We had to wake up at the freaking crack of jack this morning to go but esta bien. The temple is so cool.
OHHH! hahahahaha. Also. Thursday. The second day we were here. WE had to teach an investigator. IN Spanish. But kinda not really. We had to try and use as much Spanish as we could but thats like it. The investigator is really our other teacher. Hermano Burnham. But he is acting like an investigator. Anyway. Its strange because my companions always try to talk and express what our lesson is supposed to be but then they just talk for like 20 minutes and don’t even explain what they are really trying to. And when I get the chance to talk, I use simple words and only a few sentences and try to get the point across... And I think I do. So I feel like I am doing pretty well... ish. :)
The food is better than I expected. I eat well and balanced.
I'm adjusting. And I'm glad I decided to serve a mission.
Tell people to write me through DearElder.com! Cause then I will get it the same day! And its fun to get mail!

I hope you dont miss me too much. I'm fine and the Lord has my back!

Elder Webb

Here We Come!

So. The time has finally arrived. Today my parents and I are flying out to Utah so that on Wednesday I can start this whole journey! I can't believe its actually happening in a couple of days! I am really excited and cannot wait to learn Spanish, and get more familiar with what I will be doing for the next two years! I will be in Utah at the Missionary Training Center for about 9 weeks, and then it's down to Texas for the main event! I'm still mainly excited. But. I'm pretty sure I'm getting a little bit more scared... Good thing that just makes it better! 'Cause if this was emotionless, it'd be very boring! Its sad to leave everyone I know and love. However, I am going to meet some amazing people and have an incredible two years of my life! Now. Lets get outta here! :)
